Reading Strategies; Grades K-3

Unique! Effective! Enjoyable! Easy to use! Kids love this activity because they get to move around, and it is actually a great way to develop the important reading strategy of sequencing events. There is a physicality to it that helps children who have difficulty conceptualizing events in time. The set includes 28 correctly numbered events from Strega Nona in both Numbered and Unnumbered formats. Starred* events can be eliminated, depending on class size.

ELA; Grades 7-10

This three-passage text set is accompanied by an informational prompt about a popular literary genre: historical fiction. It's a great assignment to start off a classroom unit on the historical fiction genre, as well as to address the popular student question of "why are we reading this?" In addition, it will help students work on the skill of finding and citing information from the text provided, rather than relying on their own prior knowledge or feelings about the given topic.  Modeled after AIR Testing, which is used in numerous states across the country, it would also fit well into a PARCC simulation. The text set, itself, is a little over 4 pages long.

Are your students having difficulty with less common vowel combinations and silent letters? This game is so much better than another boring phonics workbook page! The simple, repetitive, and enjoyable format uses the latest brain research which indicates that humans remember in patterns. It focuses not only on the recognition of cluster patterns, but also on the oral production of the words. It helps ingrain the clusters for later automatic recognition in reading and spelling. Enjoyable! Effective! Easy To Use!
